Do you remember the story of the starfish stretching out on the beach, as far as the eye could see? And the little one picking them up, one-by-one, tossing them back into the sea? And the old one coming along, finding out what the young one was doing, and saying to be realistic, look at this beach, how many there are of them, and only one of you! What difference do you think you can make?!
The young little one looks at the one in its hand, and says, “It makes a difference to this one” as it is thrown back into the ocean.
What I learn from this story…and learn, and learn, and re-learn is that we do what we can. Can I, alone, solve the problem of human wars and violence? No. I cannot. I can do something. What Is Mine To Do?!
You may not know that the US Government, against US Constitution, and now not obeying orders of the US Supreme Court and federal bench orders, is refusing to return a wrongfully captured man (who has a court order since 2019 to receive asylum in the US, and NOT be deported back to El Salvador under threat to his life) was sent by US plane to a prison in El Salvador, where his well-being and very life are at risk.
Monday, April 14, 2025, US Government is to show cause why this man has not been returned to the US or be faced with contempt of federal court order.
In my mind, the disposition of this case, the life of this man, is an indication of whether the US is a constitutional democracy or…not.
Remember the cry that went up “I CAN’T BREATHE!!!”
Let the cry go out among people “FLY HIM BACK!”
#FlyHimBack
I do what I can today, by posting this on substack, facebook, linkedin, twitterX, comments on news media, youtube…and send an email to my email list with this info, and request. What might you do to answer this call? Is it yours to do? Only you can answer this question for yourself.
One starfish. One human. One you.
Until we meet again, dear ones…
edit to add: I created a google document with a summary history of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, with actions you can take to express yourself about this. The Link::https://bit.ly/CitizenActions
